This is especially true if you are writing a book for the very first time ever because there are so many pitfalls in the way and each pitfall costs money and time. Which is why it is always a good idea to have a writing strategy before you start on the book writing process. Here are 7 key tips to a healthy writing strategy for first time authors.

  1. Create a rough draft of your book

Before you even set out on the book writing process, it is always a good idea to create a rough draft of your book. That way, you will have a sort of blueprint from which to guide your work. Think of it as a sort of summary that you can consult time and again so that you can stay on track of your main storyline or concept. When creating a rough draft, it does not need to be overly long. It should not be more than 700 words at maximum. Your main thought when creating the rough draft is the main concept, the characters and the key events of the book. Once you create this, you will be surprised at how effective the book writing process will be.

When it comes to book writing, you should be able to think up of a great title. This is because the title is a way for you to show readers what your book is really about without having to divulge too much about it. It is also allows you to draw people to your book. So when you do start on making your title, make sure that it is catchy and not overly long.

Before you get started on the book writing process it is very important that you do your research as thoroughly as possible. Many a book release has been derailed by shabby research work. So before you write a story or a book make sure that your facts are well researched. Use various sources and make sure that they are trustworthy. Be discerning with your sources because your audience will know if your work is badly researched or not.

Writing a novel or any type of book takes a great deal of time. This can be very difficult to balance, especially if you are a part time writer and your time is limited. Which is why it is always advisable to have a set writing schedule to follow. This will allow you to write without your day job limiting you. When setting a schedule for your writing sessions, you should make sure that you can sustain it. Your schedule depends on what time you are most creative at and the available time you have. You can allot two to three hours every day and have your sessions early in the morning or late at night. What is important is that you can sustain the schedule throughout the whole writing process.
